Vic Beach has re-launched their website making a bold statement that they are the preeminent volleyball body in Australia.
Turning Players Into Athletes, Athletes into Warriors

“The state of Psycosis is when no gap exists between intuition and action. This can be likened to the Japanese term Mushin (no mind) or the very Western term the zone.”

Psycosis is deliberately spelt without an ‘H’. To add an ‘H’ would give the word an entirely different meaning. Brutal Training embodies principles designed to assist individuals in experiencing the frame of mind that is defined by us as Psycosis.

It is symbolised by the Slash P as seen in the accompanying pic. With the continued expansion and rise in awareness of Brutal Training we are receiving more and more requests for apparel, stickers and other items. As we embark on their production we will be producing not only Brutal gear (the training) but Psycosis gear as well (the mindset).

The reason is that Psycosis can be achieved by anyone doing anything and is not just limited to practitioners of Brutal Training. We’ve had extreme sports enthusiasts, martial artists, hard physical training freak and heavy metal band members all buy Psycosis gear. Although Psycosis is the state of awareness we seek we cannot claim it as uniquely Brutal. Only the term used is. But it is this term that gives us a point of reference, a metaphor for discussion and training that then provides a common expression for what we seek.

For many of us in the Australian beach volleyball scene we have known about Haydn Ellis and his unique training techniques and game play strategies for a number of years. Now, however, his coaching is accessible to the world courtesy of Beach Volleyball Art of War.

The website’s author and founder of Brutal Training had this to say about the site’s launch:

“The web site is dedicated to those players that aren’t 6’10” and don’t jump a metre high out of the sand. It is dedicated to those players that haven’t necessarily had an indoor volleyball background. It is dedicated to those players that believe there are many ways to win a beach volleyball game even when it looks like the opposition might be physically more impressive and even sometimes when they’re more skilful and experienced.”

While Mr.Ellis’ coaching is extremely accessible and everyone is welcome be it to a training session or an email discussion, he specialises in coaching those who are not invited to be a part of elite government funded programs. “It (Beach Volleyball Art of War) is dedicated to all those that believe that beach volleyball is an art, not a science. As a beach volleyball coach for the last 10 years I’d like to dedicate this resource to the ‘S#$tfighters’ that play beach volleyball. I hope that with this resource you may learn a few things that help turn those 60/40 and 70/30 against matches in your favour.”

The website is a subscription based service whereby articles are released roughly every month and cost only $5 an article. To celebrate the site’s launch, Beach Volleyball Art of War is offering the first two articles for only $5. You can cancel your subscription at any point and can pay by either PayPal or your credit card.

So what are waiting for? Jump on to the site and get a different point of view. Who knows, it might just get you over the line in your next match.
